TOS Trenčín SN32 and SN50 Lathe Brake Adjustment
Adjusting the brake on TOS Trenčín / TRENS SN32, SN40, SN45, SN50, SN55, SN63 and SN71.
The multi-plate brake is accessible from the rear side of the machine, on the left side of the speed gearbox.
The multi-plate brake is factory-adjusted by the manufacturer and therefore should not be adjusted without a serious reason.
If adjustment is necessary after a long period of operation, proceed as follows:
Loosen the nut (2), then adjust the clearance using the setting screw (1). The clearance must be adjusted so that the spindle, with a universal chuck mounted, stops from maximum speed within approximately 5 seconds on the SN 32 and SN 50 lathes.
After adjusting the clearance, secure the setting screw with the nut (2).
For the correct identification of replacement parts for the brake, see our article about friction discs replacement.
TOS Trenčín SN71 Lathe Brake Belt Adjustment
Adjusting the brake belt on TOS Trenčín / TRENS SN55, SN63 and SN71.
Multi-plate and belt brake adjustment
The multi-plate brake is accessible from the rear side of the machine, on the left side of the spindle speed gearbox (Fig. 4.7-1).
Belt brake adjustment
The belt brake 703621 (Fig. 4.7-2) is accessible after removing its cover, located on the lower part of the rear side of the spindle speed gearbox.
The belt brake is factory-adjusted by the manufacturer to a clearance of 3 mm, as shown in the diagram below, and should not be readjusted without a serious reason.
If adjustment is necessary after a long period of operation, or due to insufficient braking, proceed as follows:
Adjust the clearance using the screw (3) and nuts (4). After mounting the cover, tighten the screw (1) against the screw (3) and secure it with the nut (2).
When the clutch is released, the multi-plate brake is activated automatically together with the belt brake, which assists the braking action. Both brakes are used to stop the spindle quickly.
Multi-plate brake adjustment
The brakes are factory-adjusted by the manufacturer and should not be readjusted without a serious reason.
If adjustment is necessary after a long period of operation, proceed as follows:
Loosen the nut (2) on the multi-plate brake and adjust the clearance using the setting screw (1). The clearance must be adjusted so that the spindle, with a universal chuck mounted, stops from maximum speed within approximately 10 seconds.
After adjusting the clearance, secure the setting screw (1) again with the nut (2).
For the correct identification of replacement parts for the brake, see our article about friction discs replacement.
